Today is #WorldCancerDay and we will be using today to spotlight #SecondaryBreastCancerAwareness. There are an estimated 61,000 people living with this disease in the UK, but it isn't always talked about.
Last year we shared an infographic about Secondary Breast Cancer stating that people living with Secondary Breast Cancer can go on to live normal lives.
This phrasing didn't sit right with many of you who live with secondary cancer. We have reflected on this and while we know it is important to include that many people can live fulfilling lives with cancer, we now recognise that the use of 'normal' isn't a fitting term and may discount the reality of living with or managing the disease. For many people, living with secondary breast cancer is a huge challenge.
With this in mind, we felt it important to reshare the infographic with the amendments that you called for.
As always, CoppaFeel! exists to empower and educate and we wouldn't be anywhere without our wonderful community so thank you for baring with us and generously calling us in.
On WCD we're adding our voice to raise much-need awareness and we hope that today is kind to you.
